Preface
An effective discipline program is essential in the teaching and learning process. Each student has the
right to learn and play at Eagles Academy without disruption or dislike from other students.
The staff’s obligation is to reinforce appropriate student behavior. All staff members present civility,
respect, and problem-solving strategies, as they must be the example. Students are encouraged to
consistently follow school rules of conduct, set a positive example for others, and always be alert to how
their behavior affects them and others. Playground supervisors and classroom teachers administer
discipline, but when the situation justifies, the principal becomes involved. Parents are not necessarily
called or informed on the first problem, as students are encouraged to take responsibility for their
actions and to learn to meet the rules and expectations of the school, yet a record is kept for future
references. We believe each student has the final responsibility for the consequences of his/her
behavior. Parents and caregivers may be asked, in certain events, to help us teach students the
appropriate set of behaviors.
